Exploring the Tech world

I started this website as something fun to do - learning how to make a web site. I'd been working at the same company since the end of 1999. I was comfortable. I was able to continue to learn about new technologies, project management, process improvement, Six Sigma, ACE, process mapping, consulting, while still fostering relationships with co-workers and customers. But it came time to leave. In 2013 I moved to a new position in an IT department. That was a bit of a shock, but a great learning experience. I feel like I'm just starting to explore the tech world, while still having my comfort zone of software, databases, SQL. Recently I started a new position in another IT department and I feel like I need to explore the tech world on my own - it is so much larger than the software company and IT departments. There are many stories out there, and now is my time to learn from others, listen to those stories and make stories of my own. It is an interesting (and a quite scary) transition. Well, partial transition. I'm putting my toe in the water while having the security of my feet planted firmly on the sand. Tomorrow is my first tech networking event. I'm ready with updating this website, my twitter account, my business cards. I'm ready. I'm ready. Maybe if I keep repeating that, I'll start to confidently believe it. Let the exploring a world outside of my bubble begin.
